The Story So Far
Another hectic week.
Last Weekend
We are members of our local French twin-town association. The bank holiday
weekend was the visit by our French 'twins'.
It was nice to see them again, especially as they came bearing gifts
(including wine and more importantly ' Le Chocolat' French drinking
chocolate).
It was a hectic weekend that included le shopping, visits to pubs, visit to
a stately home, ceilidh, corn dolly demonstration and taking them down a
hole in the ground.
It's all very intense with constantly doing things, preparing meals and just
generally communicating. We were quite exhausted by the time we put them on
the coach on bank holiday Monday.
Tuesday 1st June
It was my birthday. I'm now the tender age of 49 and feel every bit my age.
We had a very enjoyable day out in London. Travelling by train, a very easy
and stress free journey. First port of call, a pub, well what else would you
expect ?
It was a wonderful old pub in Holborn, The Citie of Yorke - lots of wood
panelling, stained glass and a large number of wooden barrels and mash tuns
on a ledge high up behind the bar. The beer was Samuel Smiths and very good
it was. Not an expensive lunch there either, quality pub grub. It appears to
be a pub for locals rather than for tourists.
After lunch, a visit to the Royal Academy of Arts to see the Tamara de
Lempicka exhibition - wonderful paintings, all the better for seeing them
'in the flesh'.
After that a quick flit around Fortnum & Masons - just looking.
Then on to the Pitfield Beer Shop for a chat about business and to buy a
couple of bottles of beer.
Home on the train with a can of Adnams from the buffet car.
Not a bad birthday.
Yesterday
Yesterday, and we can't work out why, me and the Lady were suffering from a
bad attack of the "shittings". I could have shat through the eye of a needle
without touching the sides. Don't think it was anything that we ate. Can
only assume it was a bug.
Today
It is now two weeks since I handed my notice in at work, three and a half
weeks to go. Then into the abyss !

Wow Cryogenics !
The more observant amongst you might have noticed that I've not been
blogging much lately.
This is on account of the fact that all my time is taken up with setting up
my new business - a beer shop !
Thankfully the magistrates granted me a licence last Thursday week, one hurdle,
now all I need is the lease to be signed and I can get into
the place and start fitting it out.
I still have my other job at the moment, so time is a very scarce commodity,
but at the end of June I leave so I'll be able to devote all my time to the
shop.
I fear my blogging will have to be put into suspended animation for a while
at least - I hope to return.
